About ILSpy
ILSpy is the open-source .NET assembly browser and decompiler. It supports decompilation of .NET assemblies to C# with high-quality output, including support for modern C# features like async/await, LINQ, and pattern matching. ILSpy can decompile entire assemblies or individual types and members, with the ability to search across loaded assemblies and navigate type hierarchies. It supports .NET Framework, .NET Core, .NET 5+, and Mono assemblies. Unlike dnSpy, ILSpy focuses purely on decompilation and browsing rather than debugging and editing, making it lighter and more focused. It's available as a standalone Windows application, a VS Code extension, and a command-line tool (ilspycmd) for cross-platform use. ILSpy is actively maintained and is the most widely used open-source .NET decompiler.
About Rizin
Rizin is a free and open-source reverse engineering framework, forked from radare2 with a focus on usability, stability, and a cleaner API. It provides a complete binary analysis toolkit including disassembly, debugging, emulation, binary patching, and scripting across dozens of architectures and file formats. Rizin addresses many of radare2's historical pain points - inconsistent command naming, unstable APIs, and steep learning curve - while maintaining the powerful capabilities that made radare2 popular. The Cutter GUI, originally an r2 frontend, is now the official Rizin GUI, providing a modern graphical interface for reverse engineering workflows. Rizin supports x86, ARM, MIPS, RISC-V, PowerPC, and many other architectures, with plugins for additional formats and analysis capabilities.
